Constellations LGBTQ+ Youth Group

Constellations is a relaxed, informal social and support group for local LGBTQ+ middle school and high school-aged kids and their parents (when they feel like attending). Our goal is for our kids and parents to make new friends, exchange ideas, and just hang out with each other. Deana Spencer and Kim Langridge are Co-Facilitators. We aren’t therapists or child behavior experts, but we’re good listeners and the kids all seem to like us and trust us.

Our kids range in age from 12 to 19, and we closely follow COVID safety protocols. Our numbers are small for now– usually five to ten kids and moms per meeting.

We meet for a couple of hours each month. We try to plan a fun outing or event for each meeting because we’ve found that kids don’t want to sit in a circle and talk, they want to do things. We have fun, but we always try to make each meeting a learning experience by also discussing various LGBTQ-related topics.

Chosen names and pronouns are honored and welcome.
Supportive parents are welcome.
Sometimes we go on “field trips” and outings to find fun things to do.

We mix social activities, supportive conversations and education to create and cultivate relationships between young queer individuals so they grow and blossom into the shining stars they are.
